The interview assignment for communications enabled me to find out more about my desired profession, learn about the requirements for graduate school, and opened up opportunities for work and job shadowing. I interviewed Andrew Strong a Physician's Assistant for Mountain Medical in radiology. I was able to ask Andrew questions about becoming a good applicant for P.A. school. I found that you need to have good grades, a strong GRE score, extensive patient care time, and a generous amount of volunteer work. Andrew also explained the role of a P.A. in the medical field and which areas of medicine allowed for a P.A. to be more invasive. According to Andrew P.A.'s in dermatology, radiology, and cardio thoracic surgery are the most invasive. I now hope to be a P.A. in cardio thoracic surgery in order to be more hands on with my patients. Andrew also gave me helpful hints to becoming a good candidate. I am now able to better prepare myself by actively volunteering, working hard, and getting good grades in order to be a competitive applicant for the physician assistant program. This was a great learning experience and the knowledge I received through this interview has been very essential to my success in the medical field.
