The math 1050 transformations and piece-wise functions project enabled our group to apply what we have learned mathematically in class, to a real life situation.  The project required us to measure temperature changes throughout different times of the day.  By constructing a vertical shift we could see that the thermostat would change the temperatures or turn on two hours earlier then it had in the previous graph.  This could be due to change in seasons or climate, producing the need for the settings on the thermostat to increase temperature and change the time at which it's activated.  This project enabled me to apply what we have learned in class to my personal life.  I was also able to clearly visualize the given company's paid vacation time.  The progression of paid time, by working for the company for a longer period of time, was displayed on a graph emphasizing the benefits of working for the company for at least five years.  It was a great learning experience and increased my knowledge of the subject through real world application.
